Explorer 110 BGAN Photos
The Explorer 110 is one of the smallest and, lightest BGAN terminal available. The onboard battery operates for 36 hours on idle. External power is often only needed for recharging.
There is only one button for the device. Press "Activate" to put it in pointing mode. An audible beep will begin, and as you slowly move the terminal (by hand) the beep will raise in pitch when you find the satellite. Once you find the highest pitch, press the "Activate" button again to connect. That's it, you have a broadband connection. The 110 has a 7 degree beam making pointing easy for anyone.
Ports available on the Explorer are ISDN (phone only), Ethernet, and a power port. A rubber seal is used to cover the ports in the rain. No wires (or power) are needed for normal operation.
The BGAN sim card is located inside of the battery compartment on the back of the terminal. Simply slide the sim card into place. Multiple sim cards can be purchased for the same BGAN terminal, which means a group may each have their own "calling card" sim and keep track of their own costs.
The Explorer 110 may separate the "Interface" from the "Antenna" portion of the terminal. This allows you to run a cable from the antenna outside to the interface inside for better weather protection. The most common operation is to keep both Antenna and Interface together.
Split cables come in different lengths (3, 10 and 20 Meters) from Ground Control. The split cable connects the Interface to the Antenna.
The Explorer 110 power comes with European standard port, and a U.S. wall plug adapter. We recommend purchasing a universal power kit for other regions of the world.
External power may be supplied by vehicle power (12V or 24V) with the optional DC power adapter.
The optional Explorer bluetooth phone connects wirelessly to 100 feet from the 110 terminal. The quality of voice over the BGAN network is nothing short of excellent.
The 110 requires no external electricity source. The terminal was designed to be outside and is weather resistant. Note the rubber covers over the ISDN, Ethernet and Power Ports.
Small enough to pack anywhere, and able to withstand the elements, the Explorer 110 is the perfect solution for a global mobile office.
Even on a mountain top, there is no place to remote for connectivity. If you can achieve line-of-sight with a BGAN satellite, you have broadband connectivity.
