Faxing Over Satellite
Faxing over satellite is as easy as plugging in any fax machine into our $99 Cisco ATA device connected over our global iDirect VSAT satellite network. The Cisco ATA is issued a local phone number (from any country) so incoming faxes can be received identically to any fax machine in the world.

FoIP Optimized for Satellite
Ground Control satellite network is optimal for FAX transmissions over satellite. Our network latency is one of the lowest in the satellite industry (500 - 650 milliseconds), and our iDirect Network has a bit error rate better than 10-9 (which is defined as a clear channel and excellent for FoIP). Finally, all faxing is optimized by using a 1:1 CIR unshared channel of 80kbps x 80kbps so that no packets are dropped resulting in a failed fax transmission. Starting FoIP Service with Ground Control
Fax Machine   Step 1. Purchase The Cisco ATA Device
Any standard group 3 fax machine will work with the $99 Cisco ATA phone adapter available from Ground Control. FoIP service is often used in conjunction with VoIP Phone service.

There is only one FoIP service plan to choose, unless you are an Public Safety organization where faxing services are only required during emergencies.
  Step 3. Choose A Phone Number From Any Area
You may choose any number from most any location. A person with a satellite dish in Oregon (or Afghanistan) may wish to have a Denver fax number. Callers simply dial the Denver number and the FAX rings in Oregon (or Afghanistan).

After your account is provisioned, your ATA will have a standard dial-tone, a "local" number, and the ability to send and receive Faxes from anyone on the planet.

  ► FoIP Services from Ground Control have a one year term that reverts to month-to-month at end of term.
  ► There is a one time $49 equipment provisioning fee and a $59.95 FoIP line activation fee with purchase.


The Cisco ATA (Analog Telephone Adapter) works with ANY standard group 3 Fax machine. You may connect up to 2 fax machines (or one phone and one Fax) to the Cisco ATA, each with different phone numbers.

Follow Me - Fax Machines Can Move Anywhere
Once the Cisco ATA has been provisioned by Ground Control, fax machines connected to it may be used anywhere, not just over the satellite connection for which they are optimized. Simply connect the ATA to any Ethernet port that issues a (DHCP) IP address, and our servers will establish a link with the ATA and activate it for use. This "Follow Me" feature is perfect for individuals who travel or have multiple offices.

We have found the portable hand scanners available today for $60 work exceptionally well as a fax replacement. Handheld scanners simply roll down a document and convert that document into a high-resolution .jpg file instantly. Image files are then transferred to any computer via usb cable much like a digital camera.
