CHAPTER 2
Before the Installation
Preparing
the Installation Laptop
This section
will show you how to prepare your laptop so that you
may perform an
installation on location.
Locate
the Galileo Installer CD-ROM & Copy it to the Laptop
All the
software you need to point and activate a Galileo system is
including
on the Installer CD-ROM.
And... ALL TRAINING FILES including
the online training you are
reading now, are located on this
CD-ROM. This is quite handy
when you may have forgotten a procedureat the site.
It is wise to have a copy of the Installers CD-ROM
on your laptop in
case you loose it.
Just drag and drop the a COPY
of the folder inside the Installer
CD-ROM onto your desktop.
Install the CPS Installation Wizard
Install Satmaster Quickaim
This program
allows you to find the Azimuth, Elevation and Skew angles to point
your satellite dish accurately at any satellite in space.
Double Click on the SMQU.exe
file inside the Satmaster Quickaim folder in the CD-ROM.
Installation Proceedures:
A screen appears asking for a password.
Please
enter your personal password given to you by Ground Control
with your training materials.
Make sure you install the software
to your desktop for now
The Setup.exe file will
appear on your desktop. Double click on it to install the software
to your laptop.
The Satmaster Quickaim
Program Icon will now appear on your desktop. Double click on
this to make sure the software is working.
This is the screen you will be using to calculate dish
pointing parameters with your handheld GPS device.
This is the software that commissions the
Galileo system.
Double-Click on the CPE Install Wizard folder
in
the Galileo CD-ROM folder.
Double-Click on the
"disk1" folder.
Double-Click on the "Setup.exe" file.
Install the CPE Installer to the Laptop
Desktop.
The CPE Installation Software
icon will appear on the installer laptop desktop. To run it,
simply double click on it.
Your laptop will be connected to the Galileo Gateway In-Door
Unit via a Crossover Ethernet Cable. Make sure that you have
this cable prior to the installation.

Go back to Chapters
Finally... Pack your AC adapter.
Make sure you bring your AC adapter so that you may plug your laptop in at the installation location. Running out of battery power is never fun in the middle of an install.
In order to get the fastest speed available from Galileo (once you
are online) you will want to set your Proxy Settings on your Laptop
(as well as all other connected computers). To do this, advance
to Chapter 4 on Proxy Configuration. This setting is only used
when you are configuring a Galileo system and should be turned
off when you're using your laptop on another service Click
