Chapter 2 - The Installation Work Order and Customer Information Sheet

 
 


THE WORK ORDER

The purpose of the Work Order is to have the client SIGN-OFF, or approve the installation after the
system is in place and working.

Explanations for terms are below.

CUSTOMER INFORMATION
Client #: - Every satellite system from Ground Control has an account number that starts with the letters "GC". This is not a customer number because a client may have more than one satellite system.
Company: - The name of the client.
Contact: - The is the contact person from the company.
Phone #1: - The phone number of the contact person.
Address: The installation address

INSTALLER INFORMATION
WO#: - The Work Order number. This is an internal number used by Ground Control for this installation.
Installer: - This is the name of the installer, or the organization responsible for the installation.
Install Type: Installation of a Fixed System, Mobile System, or other specialized install type.
Install Date: - The date the installation is to be performed.

EQUIPMENT
Dish Size: The Make and Size of the satellite system to be installed
Mount Type: - From a pole mount, to a Non-Penetrating roof mount. This describes how the dish is to be mounted.
Satellite: - The satellite to be connected with. Also includes polarization information and the satellite longitude.
Service Level: - This shows the service plan, or if the system is pre commissioned or not. This information is not required by the installer for the installation.
Serial Number / Tap ID#: - The serial number of the iDirect gateway or the Galileo "Tap ID" number. This information is used for the Cross-Pol section of an installation.
IRU/CPE - This is additional information on the Gateways.
Activation Keys: - Not required for an installation

TECHNICIAN SIGN OFF
Installer Name - The installers name
Installer ID - The installation ID of the installer.
Signal Strength - This information is pulled from the activation software that will show the signal strength of the connection.
Isolation Score - Used to show how well the polarization is pointed.

NOTE - The "signed-off" work order form needs to be faxed or emailed to Ground Control.



THE CUSTOMER INFORMATION SHEET

Below is the information sheet that will be given to the client after the installation. Like the work order, this document, has customer information and information needed to point a satellite system.




CUSTOMER INFORMATION SHEET
Date: - The date this sheet was created

SITE INFORMATION
Modem Serial Number: - The serial number of the iDirect modem.
Circuit ID: - This number is used by Ground Control to identify the circuit to be used by the satellite system.
Address: - The address where the system is to be installed.
Satellite: - This is the name of the satellite to be connected with as well as the satellite's longitude.
Receive: - The LNB will either have a horizontal or vertical polarity to connect with the chosen satellite.
Transmit: - The BUC or Transmitter will also either have a horizontal or vertical polarity to connect with the satellite.
Customer Number: - The Ground Control "GC" Number assigned to every satellite system.
Customer Name: - The name of the client.
Sales Order: - If there was a sales order number generated by Ground Control, it will be listed here.
Site Contact: - The name of the contact person, who is normally at the installation site.
Phone: - The phone number of the site contact person.
Tech Contact: - The phone number of the IT person of the company, that may sometimes be the same as the site contact.
Phone: - The phone number of the Tech Contact

HELP DESK / TECHNICAL SUPPORT
Contact - Normally always Ground Control
Phone - The Support phone number of Ground Control
URL - The website address of the supporting company
EMAIL - The email address of the support department

LAN SETUP - The information below is used to configure the installer laptop AND the client router to connect to the satellite system.

Default Gateway
DNS Address Primary
DNS Address Secondary


ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Any special installation instructions will be listed in this text box.

NOTE - Please make sure to leave the Customer Sheet at the installation location. In fact, we recommend folding up and taping the customer sheet to the side of the gateway (making sure not to cover any venting. Make sure the LAN SETUP information is seen so that the customer has the relavant information necessary to connect any machine to the satellite gateway.
