CHAPTER 3
HARDWARE INSTALLATION

MEETING THE CLIENT
Everyone likes to make a good impression when meeting the client.  The good news is that the customer is probably very excited about getting a new satellite system installed and they are probably wanting you to get started right away.

There are only three things you need to remember:
You are a Representative of Ground Control
You represent Ground Control as a professional Galileo system installer. If you are not sure how to answer a question posed to you from the client, then say "I'm not sure on that, but let me find out for you"... and then call Ground Control for an answer.

Feel confident that Ground Control is here for you at any stage of your installation.
LISTEN, LISTEN, & LISTEN
Listening to the customers ideas are for installing the satellite system is a great way to get a good lay of the land.  They have already figured out where the dish is to be installed and they probably have good idea on where to run the cables.

They also probably know where they want to install the In-Door unit.  Which is pretty much all the information you need to perform your installation.

Listen for:
1.  Where is the dish to be installed?
2.  Where is the In-Door Unit to be installed?
3.  What is the best route to run the coax cable.

After the customer has made their suggestions, then offer up your ideas and be clear about what you are going to do.
Other things you want to know:
Where is the closest outside outlet in case you need power on the roof?

Will someone available to help you if you need to lift or move something?

Will someone available after you have commissioning the system to connect the customer's network? - Remember, you are not responsible for configuring a customers network.
