Galileo - VSAT Installation Training
CHAPTER 4
Software Installation
CROSS POLARIZATION
Once you have completed the CPE Installation Wizard, and have looked at the Administrative screens to tweak your pointing for the best connection, you now need to confirm cross polarization with the Network Operation Center.

With the gateway and laptop turned on (and connected), call the Network Operations Center. The number is provided to you on the Galileo Work Order.
You will first need to give them your TAP ID which is located on the work order as well. In fact, any information they need from you will be on the work order.
The NOC operator will ask you to move the skew of the radio unit, and sometimes the Azimuth. They will try to tweak your system even more, but most likely, you will be moving the dish back to where you had it originally.
Use only the fine adjustment screws for both Azimuth and Elevation.
They will soon give you the go-ahead to lock down the dish... You will still be on the phone when you do this so the NOC can see that your dish does not move.
First, lock down the radio bracket.
Next... lock down the 4 elevation bolts.
(2 on the right side, 2 on the left side)
And then, lock down the 3 Azimuth bolts.
That's it... Your system is fully commissioned and crosspoled, and you are ready to surf the Internet.
CALLING AFTER HOURS
Sometimes you will be calling SES Americom,
the owner of AMC4 to perform your cross polarization. This proceedure
is a bit more involved and requires you to use the crosspol feature
in the Wizard.
It is okay to go back into the Wizard (if you have already "committed" the installation before) and click on the "Conduct Cross Polarization Test" box.
On this screen, the SES Operator will give you a frequency number to type in (in this case it is 14100). Once they give you this number, type it in and press start.
A common frequency is 14118.1
After the cross-pol test, and you have locked down the satellite dish, DO NOT commit the installation. Simply click on "Cancel".
It may be a good idea not to water-proof the coax cables to after you have performed cross-pol because sometimes you will switch cabels, or do something that requires that you remove the cable quickly from the dish.
