Satellite Network
Topologies
Below are three of the most commonly satellite topologies
for creating a highly secure network:
Total Private Satellite
Network
A Totally Private Network is created by connecting
the corporate server directly with the satellite NOC, normally
with a T1. Doing this bypasses touching any sharred Internet
traffic.
Many customers with a TPN do
not
require
a
VPN over the satellite link because the connection is already secure, thus increasing
the performance and speed of the connection.

Enhanced VPN
Enhanced VPN uses client provided VPN hardware
(router to router) to connect from its corporate data center
to the
satellite Network Operations Center to provide a secure connection
between the data center and the client systems.
Point-to-Point Total
Private Network
Another topology to consider is the Point-to-Point
network. Instead of connecting to the NOC via a terrestrial
link, you may connect via
satellite... and then back out to your client sites without ever touching a terrestrial
network (besides the NOC itself).
