CHAPTER 2
c. Having the Correct Tools and Supplies
Here are the tools (and supplies) you'll need to install a Magellan system.
Some of the tools may be provided to you when you pass certification. When
we start the installation process of the training course, you'll see where each
of these tools is used.
End of section
A good screwgun is needed in many
situations... both for drilling and screwing.
A must.
One must not forgot a set of
good drill bits. Drill bits are
used for pre-drilling holes in
the roof a vehicle.
DICOR White Sealant
Used to seal all holes you drill
on the vehicle. This product can
be found at any RV supply store.
100% Rubber Silicone may be
used as an alternate, but it is not
as good as Dicor you will find.
For wood roofs, you'll want to
have plenty of sheet metal
screws.
Do not use sheet metal
screws on fiberglass roofs.
These do not need to be
stainless steel as they will
be covered up with silicone
at the installation.
Standard screws are used
on fiberglass roofs... Make
sure that holes are pre-drilled
so that the screw will not
fracture the fiberglass roof.
A Hole Saw is used to drill
the big hole in the top of the
vehicle to run the cabeling
through.
A long drill is used to make
the first hole through the
roof... to guide the Hole Saw
below.
Tape Measure... To measure if you
have enough room on top of the roof.
Make sure you have a
Calking Gun.
An set of open end wrenches.
