About Us

Ground Control uses satellite and cellular technology to connect people and things – and we specialize in connecting hard-to-reach people and things. From wind farm telemetry to catch management, flood warnings to forestry machinery, when you have a remote data transfer challenge, we’ve got you covered.

What We Do

We design and build our own technology, from low power, small form factor satellite IoT devices through to handheld, two way messaging-enabled trackers. For many customers, these work out of the box, supported by our subscription, device and data management platform, Cloudloop.

We also engineer custom solutions, and like nothing more than solving difficult connectivity problems; it’s the genesis of each new packaged solution.

Our History

Ground Control was launched when three leading brands – Ground Control, Wireless Innovation and Rock Seven – united to create a best-in-class technology and service provider in satellite IoT and tracking. We have a huge breadth and depth of experience across multiple industries and applications, and we pride ourselves on the longevity of our customer relationships.

Our team operates from four main locations in the UK and USA, with field technicians stationed in satellite-usage hotspots like Texas and the east coast of Scotland, so we’re close to our customers when it matters most.

Part of CLS Group

In September 2025, Ground Control joined the CLS Group (Collecte Localisation Satellites), an international company using space-based solutions to better understand and protect our planet. CLS has formal “société à mission” (mission-driven company) status under French law, which anchors its purpose and social/environmental objectives in its bylaws.

As we continue to grow within the CLS family, we aim to retain the character of a small business; loyal, personable and approachable. It might be old-fashioned, but we treat our customers as we’d want to be treated: with personal attention, expert insight, and objective advice. And with CLS’s mission at our back, we’re doubling down on solutions that deliver reliability today and a more sustainable tomorrow.

How We Add Value For Customers

Product Creation & Customization

Because we built it, we can customize it. Our ability to set up complex geofences for our tracking devices came from a customer suggestion, as did the ability to pair heart rate monitors with our RockSTAR personal tracker, and have it transmit a heart rate with each location.

Device & Data Management

Our cloud-based management solution, Cloudloop, helps customers control airtime subscriptions and remotely manage terminals and assets. Cloudloop Data turns message-based transmissions into usable data and delivers them into customers’ own systems and applications.

Lightweight & Simplified APIs

Cloudloop is an API-first platform, and everything that can be done within the platform can also be done programmatically in your own software. It features native messaging and data storage to simplify integration and debugging for developers.

Chase-The-Sun Technical Support

We have extensive industry experience, and understand the challenges our customers face when looking to deploy remote or emergency communication solutions. With teams located across the US and UK, we offer almost around-the-clock support and advice.
