The Explorer 110 from Thrane
and Thrane is the smallest and lightest BGAN terminal available.
Battery life of the system is 36 hours on idle. External power
is often only need for recharging. |
|
There is only one button
for the device. Press "Activate" to put
it in pointing mode. An audible beep will begin to help you point
the system with a raise in pitch. Once you have found the highest
audible pitch, press the "Activate" button again to connect.

Ports available on the Explorer
are ISDN (phone only), Ethernet, and the power port. A rubber
seal is used to cover the ports in the rain. Many use the built
in Bluetooth access point to connect to the network. No wires
(or power) are needed for normal operation. |
|
The BGAN sim card is located
inside of the battery compartment on the back of the terminal.
Simply slide the sim card into place. |

The Explorer 110 may separate
the "Interface" from the "Antenna" portion
of the terminal. This allows you to run a cable from outside
to inside a structure.
The most common operation is to keep both Antenna and Interface
together. |
|
Split cables come in different
lengths (3, 10 and 20 Meters) from Ground Control.
The split cable connects the Interface to the Antenna. |

The Explorer 110 power comes
with European standard port, and a simple U.S. wall plug adapter.
We recommend you purchase a universal power kit if you plan
of traveling to other regions of the world. |
|
Power may be supplied by vehicle
power (12V or 24V) with the optional DC power adapter. |

If you require
a phone, the optional Explorer Bluetooth
phone connects wirelessly to
100 feet
from the
110 terminal. The quality of voice over the BGAN network
is nothing short of excellent. |
|
On a full battery,
this 110 is totally self contained and will operate for hours.
The terminal is meant to be outside and is quite weather
proof. Note the rubber covers over the ISDN, Ethernet
and
Power Ports.

The optional Explorer ISDN handset
uses a standard Ethernet cable to connect the ISDN ports of
both
the phone and terminal. However, the supplied
cable has been modified with a rubber seal that can
create
a watertight connection on the Terminal (see picture on
right... behind the phone) |
|
The advantages of the ISDN handset
over the Bluetooth phone is it can help
point the terminal by showing signal strength. It also has
many parameter controls over the
terminals, which can be quite helpful in a jam.
The quality of the voice over this phone sounds like you are
calling from across town. |

Small enough to pack anywhere,
and able to withstand the elements, the Explorer 110 is the perfect
solution for a global mobile office.
|
|
Even on a mountain top, their
is no place to remote for connectivity. If you can achieve
line of site with an geostationary satellite, you have
broadband connectivity. |
