Cellular IoT Connectivity

Connect meters, terminals, control systems and other remote equipment with reliable cellular IoT devices and managed connectivity.

Our i-cell range is designed for straightforward integration across utility monitoring, vending, security, energy management and wider telemetry applications. We also offer hybrid cellular and satellite solutions for assets that may move beyond terrestrial coverage.

Connect and Manage Remote Equipment

The i-cell range helps businesses connect meters, RTUs, payment terminals, alarms and other remote systems using established interfaces and modern cellular technologies. It can support both new deployments and upgrades to equipment that previously relied on older 2G or 3G services.

For mobile or especially remote applications, selected Ground Control devices can combine cellular and satellite connectivity. These solutions use cellular networks where available and retain satellite as a backup when coverage is weak or unavailable.

Cellular Connectivity for Installed Equipment

The i-cell range provides compact cellular communications for meters, RTUs, payment terminals, alarms and other equipment that needs to exchange data with a remote platform.

Designed for straightforward integration, i-cell devices support established serial interfaces and can be supplied in different formats to suit new installations or upgrades to existing equipment. They are used across utility monitoring, vending, security, energy management and wider telemetry applications.

Multi-network and eUICC options help maintain service as operators retire older network technologies, reducing the disruption and engineering work involved in moving existing estates from 2G to LTE, LTE-M or NB-IoT.

Frequently Asked Questions

Several of Ground Control’s proprietary devices are able to use both mobile data and satellite connections to transmit and receive data. They will use mobile data when within range, and switch to satellite for remote areas.

This means users pay less, as mobile network connectivity is lower cost than satellite, but don’t miss out on the complete reliability offered by leveraging satellite communication.

The Intelligent Cellular (i-Cell) division of Ground Control has developed a SMART solution to automatically switch from 2G to LTE spectrum encompassing eUICC technology. Our technology works in a wide range of industries, most notably Utilities but also from Vending to Security and Energy management.
