Using the Safari BGAN Terminal

The Safari can be online while moving, or while parked. As long as there is line-of-sight to the geostationary satellite, connectivity is global.

Global Connectivity Anywhere Parked or On-The-Move

The Wideye Safari is a simple to use in-motion BGAN Terminal that connects while moving or parked to any of the three geostationary Inmarsat I-4 satellites using the BGAN satellite network to connect to the Internet.

With a compact 9.9" inch (252mm) diameter dome, this in-motion BGAN system is one of the smallest antennas on the market. Exact dimension are 9.9" in. Dia x 4.7" in. H (252 mm Dia x 119.12 mm H) and it weighs in at only 4.2 lbs (1.9kg).

The complete Safari system is composed of three parts – (1) The humidity resistant IP44 rated Transceiver Unit with built-in wireless access, (2) An IP66 rated handset that can be replaced with any standard analog phone, (3) An all weather IP66 rated roof magnetic mounted antenna dome. The antenna is compact and lightweight, ideal for vehicles on-the-move and uses only 60 watts of power. The Safari BGAN Terminal is easy to carry and transport to locations around the world, and it is designed for the most demanding environments.

Standard voice (4kbps AMBE+2) and optional 3.1 KHz high quality voice/fax service are available. High speed CIR 1:1 unshared streaming services are also available for critical bandwidth demanding applications such as video streaming.

The Safari allows simultaneous use of all communication services including data/Internet, voice, fax, and SMS texting. Interface ports include 2 x RJ-11 ports for voice phones and Fax, 2 x RJ45 Ethernet LAN ports, an RS232 port for GPS output and 4 x GPIOs, for external control or indications.

Wideye Safari On Vehicle Roof   Wideye Safari Mag Mounts
The Wideye Safari easily mounts on top of any vehicle roof with three rubberized mag mounts. Permanent mounting hardware is also included.

The Mag Mounting hardware includes noise dampening washers. These magnets are strong enough to withstand any wind, but not so strong that the antenna can't be removed from the roof.
Antenna Feed   Wideye Safari Tranceiver
The 3 meter antenna cable is small and flexible enough to feed between most vehicle door jambs. This avoids having to run the cable through a partially open window.

The Wideye Safari transceiver is connected to 12 volt vehicle power either directly, or with a 12 volt vehicle power plug. Also shown is the included primary handset with system display screen.
Wideye Safari Primary Phone   Wideye Safari Wi-Fi antenna
While any phone may work with the Wideye Safari, the primary handset has many options, including system status, voicemail, sms messaging, etc,.

The Wideye Safari includes a wireless access point for any in range device to connect (up to 100 feet). Note that the three green LED's on top of the transceiver show that the system is online.
Wideye Safari Connection Ports   Wideye Safari Dirt Road
There are quite a few connection ports on the back of the Safari transceiver, including a POE (Power Over Ethernet) connection, and GPS output for setting up a navigation system. Please refer to the Wideye Safari Users Manual for more information.

The Wideye Safari is a powerful in-motion BGAN terminal that performs anywhere on the planet with a wide range of features.
