►It is a high-speed, low-cost, real-time Internet port for TCP-IP, M2M, SCADA connected devices.
►It draws only 3 to 4 watts for an always open TCP-IP network connection. Hibernation mode
draws just 0.01 watt and wakes up on any LAN activity - Excellent for small solar installations.
►It uses special BGAN M2M service that bills only the data transferred through the terminal, and
not for overhead connection & networking costs common with other services.
►Cost per Kilobyte transferred is about $0.02 cents with 1 Kilobyte minimum billing increments!
►The data connection is open, and stays alive. No wake-up operation needed to transmit/receive.
►It is secure from hackers when powerful firewall rules are in place. more
►SMS texting control. Hibernate, Activate, Get usage totals, all from any cellphone.
►It operates in extreme hot or cold temperatures -40°F to 167°F (-40° to 75° C).
►It does not require a laptop, or certified technician to install at remote locations. more
►When a critical issue arises, having broadband 448 Kbps communication is there.
►Costs for M2M service start at $43 a month for 2 MB of data transferred. more
The 9502 can maintain an around-the-clock TCP-IP connection over the BGAN satellite network, even in idle mode which uses 3 to 4 watts of power. This means ANY
TCP-IP
device connected to the 9502 is always able to communicate over the network in very low power locations with no special wake-up procedure from either side of the satellite connection. For even more power savings, the "Wake On Lan" setting drops power usage to 0.01 watts when the system is idle for a set period of time (such as 5 minutes). Any network activity (from the device side) will reestablish a BGAN network connection in about 30 seconds, which is shorter than the timeout of most attached equipment. A hibernation wakeup can also come from a simple SMS text message from any cell phone. The simplicity of the Hughes 9502 BGAN terminal makes it far more reliable than other
M2M equipment solutions.
 |
Pay For Only What You Transfer... The 9502 uses special M2M BGAN service that
DOES NOT bill for
overhead data related to
establishing (or reestablishing) a connection to the satellite network. "No Overhead"
billing is ideal for low bandwidth M2M devices, and connectivity costs can be dramatically reduced over standard BGAN service. Cost per Kilobyte transferred is about $0.02 cents with 1 Kilobyte billing increments. |

| The engineers at Hughes have designed the 9502 to require no laptop for installation since many installs may be on a pole. Simply plug headphones into the audio port of the 9502 to hear a variable tone for signal strength to aid in pointing. BGAN connectivity settings can be pre-configured off site (with a computer) so that the system will automatically go online when the
antenna is installed on site. This is excellent for non-trained personnel, or for line workers who don't wish to contend with a laptop. |

Service for the 9502 is global except for extreme polar regions. It uses specialized BGAN M2M service on any of three Inmarsat satellites for full connectivity.

The Hughes 9502 has a unique watchdog option where the terminal will ping an external IP address, and if it not successful with the ping, will reboot the terminal. Below is the configuration screen for setting up the watchdog service.Below is the option unique to the Hughes 9502 that keeps a data session active. When a connected device communicates through the 9502, the data will be sent. In normal operation mode, no special wake-up procedures are needed as is the case with other BGAN M2M terminals.Keep your devices blind to potential hacking from the Internet by two security options. (1) Our BGAN M2M Traffic Control Service sets rules for what traffic is able to go in and out of the BGAN M2M network. This service is included at no additional cost with a M2M subscription. Our other security service is setting up a (2) BGAN VPN or Private Network. Remote devices become
inaccessible from the Internet since they do not have a routable IP address. Maintain complete
security over all your remote assets.
Consider the Hughes 9502 as simply a live, low-power, Ethernet port in remote locations most anywhere on the planet. Industry uses are:
►Utility Smart Grid - Realtime control with less about 1200 millisecond latency.
►Weather, environmental, seismic warning sensors over a wide (global) area.
►Pump/Valve monitoring and control - Access remote devices, screens, parameters.
►Asset Monitoring - Trigger Switches, Door open, motion detector, alarm send information.
►Remote Video Surveillance - 448 Kbps speeds allow for fast refresh-rate of images real-time.
►Credit Card Processing - low power, small profile, make it an alternative to satellite dishes.
►Low or High-Bandwidth SCADA devices.
►Any remote device that communicates over a standard TCP-IP Internet connection.
