The Iridium 9555 is about as easy to use as a typical cell phone. It is assigned an international number so it can make calls to any cellular or landline phone in the world for about $1.50 a minute. All calls it receives are free, however the calling party is charged their rate for calling a satellite phone (rates vary by provider). The "Call Forwarding" feature is handy when you wish incoming calls to be diverted to your cell phone to circumvent higher satellite phone rate to the calling party (when you're in cell range). Of course, the 9555 has all the other phone features you've come to expect.
Calling On The Move
Note the included Mag-Mount antenna and the retractable earpiece that gives hands free calling while traveling. (Phone can be answered by push button on the earpiece wire volume control).
Ground Control supplies a magnetic antenna and all cabling so that your satellite connection isn't diminished while inside a car.
