Data speeds of 176 Kbps mean that Certus 200 devices can be used for basic internet use, tracking, and voice communication. Because it’s a low bandwidth service, antennas are small and lightweight, and don’t need a lot of power to operate. And because it’s Iridium, with its mesh network of 66 satellites constantly circling the globe, you get 100% global coverage, even at the polar regions.
We’ve provided a small number of sample plans here, and encourage you to get in touch to get a quote for your specific airtime requirements.

Iridium Certus 200 Coverage Map
Iridium Certus 200 uses the Iridium constellation of 66 active satellites in Low Earth Orbit (LEO), with nine in-orbit spares. This provides L-band connectivity anywhere on Earth with a clear view of the sky – including the polar regions. L-band is one of the most stable frequency bands, and doesn’t suffer from ‘rain fade’, so you’ll get both clear voice services and a stable internet connection.
Iridium completed an upgrade of their entire network in 2019, so while Iridium has been providing services since 2002, the satellites themselves are new and very high-tech. It’s because of the upgrade that services like Certus 200 are now available. Users benefit from low latency (<1 second), global communications, a stable connection at land or sea, and high levels of security and reliability.
Why Buy Your Certus 200 Airtime from Ground Control?
While we've listed some popular plans here, most of our customers have a tailored plan, which means they're only paying for the airtime they're likely to use. Our long-standing partnership with Iridium allows us to customize our service plans.
Our experienced and knowledgeable support team can help you with everything from device selection through to installation, with unlimited lifetime support. With decades of experience between them, you're in safe hands.
Our cloud-based platform, Cloudloop, gives you complete control over your airtime usage and devices. You can activate, deactivate and suspend devices remotely, track your devices, and monitor your network. Available both as an online platform and as a fully-featured API.
Ground Control proactively reviews your data usage to ensure that you're on the best plan - by which we mean, the most affordable. Rather than paying for data you're not using, or incurring overage costs, we ensure you get maximum value for money.
With Ground Control, you can aggregate your monthly data allowance across all devices into a pool, which dramatically decreases the likelihood of any single device exceeding its data allowance - i.e. you will not have to pay expensive overage fees.
Pole to Pole Coverage
OK so this one isn't unique to Ground Control - but it is a key feature of the Iridium Certus 200 service. It delivers 100% global coverage using the L-Band frequency, which means it's reliable and always accessible with a clear view of the sky.
