The Iridium Extreme is about as easy to use as a typical cell phone. It is assigned an international number so it can make calls to any cellular or landline phone in the world for about $1.50 a minute. All calls it receives are free, however the calling party is charged their rate for calling a satellite phone (rates vary by provider). The "Call Forwarding" feature is handy when you wish incoming calls to be diverted to your cell phone to circumvent higher satellite phone rate to the calling party (when you're in cell range). Iridium Extreme is integrated with StratosTrax, a global tracking solution. StratosTrax is an online portal that is fully integrated with GPS and Geofencing capabilities for web-based location identification, and enables tracking of all Iridium Extreme, GSPS and Blackberry phones.
It features an intuitive, user-friendly interface that integrates Google mapping views in Map, Satellite, Hybrid and Terrain options. With its breadcrumb function StratosTrax allows you to quickly trace your trail with updates set from 15 seconds to 1 week.
The Iridium Extreme when has an SOS button (under a protective cover) that when pressed will send out a distress message to a designated contact with your GPS Coordinates.
The Iridium Extreme can be used for a low speed 2.5 Kbps Internet connection using the Iridium Axcesspoint personal hotspot.

26 Watt Foldable Solar Panel This universal 26 watt foldable solar panels is a great way to charge your satellite phone in a no-power area. It has a standard 12V vehicle power port for use for your other electronics.
The Iridium 9575 includes (at no additional cost) a small magnetic vehicle roof mounted antenna for parked or in-motion communication... This antenna can also be used to place the phone indoors if the antenna is outside. We do recommend this antenna as an option.
The Iridium Extreme 9575 has a lower profile satellite antenna, and this system is 100% global.
Here the Iridium Extreme is connected to the magnetic antenna on top of the vehicle. There is a hands free headset that is useful for when the car is in motion.
Iridium satellite phones have been popular with maritime use for years. The Extreme 9575 is dust and waterproof, so now the phone can be used on a working deck.
Iridium satellites are low-earth orbit with 100% global coverage, so no matter where you sail, you can stay connected.
The bottom of the Iridium allows for two cradles to connect for allowing 3 device connections - External antenna, data port, and recharging.
The Iridium AxcessPoint Hotspot easily connects to the data-port of the mini-cradle on for the Extreme 9575, or the side of the 9555.
The AxcessPoint Hotspot will allow both the 9575 and 9555 phones to create a wireless hotspot for laptops, tablets, and smartphones.
With the Lithium Ion battery removed, the Iridium Sim Card tray is exposed. To insert a Sim Card, gently push slide the tray up and then pivot it up.
Insert the Iridium Sim Card with the dog eared corner as shown and lower the tray back into place. Now gently push down on the tray until it "snaps" into place.
The flexible AC/DC Power adapter will work with most kinds of power around the world. Input requirements are 100-240 Volts 50-60Hz. Plug adapters for various countries wall power are also included.
The vehicle adapter is capable of taking DC power 10 to 32 volts.
