have access to streaming services, which are simply unshared channels to the Internet backbone. While streaming video is possible with standard "background IP" shared connection, the advantage to the streaming service is live video and audio can avoid quality errors such as dropouts far more than the unpredictable standard shared service. Streaming is Charged by the Minute, while the standard BGAN Internet connection is Charged by the Megabyte Transferred.
Below is a video on how professional organizations are using BGAN and the popular Streambox to stream live video from anywhere on the planet with equipment that fits in a small case. |
For more information on the various Streambox solutions using BGAN, please visit their site at www.streambox.com ...The Streambox Avinar solution does not require a laptop.
The option to choose a streaming services for your BGAN Internet connection is located on the BGAN Launchpad application from your connected computer. While the BGAN terminal is pointed at the satellite, open up the launchpad application and click on the Data tab to display the option of Connect Standard (per Megabyte charge) or any of the available Streaming (per minute charge) services. |

Advanced users may configure any BGAN terminal so that registration is automatic with a selected streaming service, avoiding using the launchpad. Ground Control can also pre-configure your BGAN system to auto-connect at your request.
All streaming services are available for all BGAN plans with Ground Control upon request. Normally streaming service options on the launchpad are deactivated (grayed out) by Ground Control in order to protect customers from accidentally selecting a streaming service and be charged by the minute.
